Abstract

E-learning is an educational system that uses information technology in the learning process. One of the platforms that can be used in developing e-learning is Moodle. This research investigates the implementation of e-learning in the learning process in the Computer Education Department. The purpose of this research is to examine the use of E-learning in supporting the learning process. The respondents of this research are 130 active students of the Computer Education Department from the 2016 to 2018 Batches. The method used is a research questionnaire whose data are analyzed using the SPSS Statistics 25 program. This research shows no significant effect of student expectation on e-learning in supporting the learning process. Meanwhile, ease of e-learning, e-learning performance, and social influence for the benefit of e-learning have a significant effect on supporting the learning process and improve learning independence.

Abstract

Three chemical representation is an important aspect of chemistry learning. However, the database study shows that interactive chemistry learning media containing three levels of representation is not available. This research aims to develop and assess the feasibility of an interactive Android-based learning module for senior high school students containing three chemical representation levels on the material of salt hydrolys-is. The study was conducted using research and development (RD) method.  Stages of research were con-ducted as follows, analysis, development process, product validation and assessment. The Android module was subsequently validated by media and concept experts and then limitedly assessed by five chemistry teachers and ten senior high school students. The instrument used was validated by an instrument expert. The validation results by media and concept experts indicated that the media was valid in terms of media performance and salt hydrolysis material. Based on teachers' and students' assessments, the media received a score of 87.5% and 83.0%, with very good category. It can be concluded that the interactive Android-based learning module containing three chemical representations on the material of salt hydrolysis was successful-ly developed and can be tested extensively in senior high school. The developed media closed a significant gap in the need of interactive chemistry learning media containing three levels of chemical representation, especially in the material of salt hydrolisis

Abstract

The management and leadership training innovation model used by Muhammadiyah universities according to the principles of good instructional development is not yet available. The aims of this research are (1) to describe the appropriate management and leadership training for university leaders at Muhammadiyah universities today; (2) to identify current approaches to management and leadership training; (3) to develop suitable management and leadership training packages for leaders; and (4) to formulate the effectiveness of the innovation management and leadership training package. Research and Development Borg and Gall were used and combined with Dick Carey's steps Instructional Design Modern. The study resulted in the package management and leadership training for Muhammadiyah, including training design, A Handbook for Facilitators, Handbook for Participants, and Module 3 Training Materials. Product Training Package has been validated by and trials on aspects of effectiveness and feasibility. The study also produced some impli-cations and recommendations relating to the training in the PTM (Muhammadiyah Higher Education).

Abstract

Many studies have developed learning media, but few studies focus on developing learning media in ele-mentary schools using Genially and studying teachers' perceptions of Genially learning media. This study aims to determine teachers' perceptions of hybrid learning media with a more accurate and precise method, namely the item response theory (IRT) from the Rasch model. The survey was carried out by distributing a Likert scale questionnaire of 19 statements. Moreover, the subjects were 45 elementary school teachers in Riau Province, Indonesia. The results showed that they positively perceived the developed genially-based learning media. Genially learning media can support teachers in teaching. Based on these results, teachers need to develop skills in making various technology-based media, in order to support hybrid learning.

Abstract

Due to the COVID-19, all the educational institutions in Bangladesh were forced to stop the traditional face-to-face learning method and adopt the online learning system to resume the students’ learning activities, even though no one was prepared for that. The current study aims to identify the barriers to adopting online learning during this pandemic from the perception of university students of Bangladesh. The present study is a quantitative study and that has been conducted by performing a survey on 394 university students of Bangladesh with the help of a semi-structured online questionnaire. The current study is a cross-sectional study in nature, and the convenience sampling technique was adopted to carry out this study. The study found that the adoption of online learning of university students in Bangladesh is disrupted by several environmental and situational barriers, e-learning barriers, and psychological barriers. The current study provides insights into the barriers to adopting online learning among university students of Bangladesh. This study has both theoretical and practical contributions; theoretically, the current study provides a research framework to identify the barriers of adopting online learning, and practically, the findings of the study provide a brief concept of the barriers of online education to the stakeholder of the education industry of Bangladesh which will be beneficial for them to take proper initiatives to minimize these barriers. Finally, the current study was concluded by indicating some limitations and providing the directions for future research.

Abstract

Low-ability students are evidenced to have difficulties in understanding the concept of abstraction in mathematics, such as social arithmetic problems. It is because low-ability students have an IQ below the average of 70 to 90. Most teachers find it challenging to discover what kind of learning approaches that may be suitable for improving their mathematical understanding. An alternative approach that can be used to improve the understanding of low-ability students is the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (IRME) approach by using real contexts as a starting point for learning to make it easier for students to study the abstract material. This study aims to determine the learning process and the role of IRME in improving low-ability student’s mathematical cognitive abilities regarding the concept of social arithmetic. This study used the Single Subject Research (SSR) method with a single subject, and a seventh-grade student at one of the Junior High Schools in Depok, Yogyakarta. The research data collected in this study are audio and video recordings, photos, and student worksheets. The data collected was then analyzed using in and between analysis with A-B research design. The results showed that the IRME approach with snack and money con-texts could improve a low-ability student’s mathematical understanding of the social arithmetic concept. This context could be a starting point for teachers in teaching social arithmetic problems and be a reference for finding other contexts that can make mathematics learning more easy and joyful for low-ability students.
